Our Inca Jungle trail package is one of the most enjoyable adventure tours to Machu Picchu you’ll find in Peru. This adventure offers you biking, rafting, hiking and zip lining over four days.
The first day starts early in the morning. We will pick you up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 am and will drive for two-hours through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This valley is renown as a leading producer of vegetables in the Cusco Region and is famous for having numerous Inca palaces and buildings. Along the way we will have a 30-minute stop in Ollantaytambo where we will have breakfast and purchase any last-minute supplies like snacks. One journey continues on to Abra Malaga pass which is located at 4 350 mt / 14271 ft. From here we will descend with bicycles for a three-hour ride seeing small towns, fruit plantations and rivers and creeks along the way arriving at the town of Huamanmarca. Here we will take transportation to Santa Maria town, which is about a 30-minute drive where we will have lunch and will drop our personal belongings at our hotel. In the afternoon take in a two-hour adrenaline rush of fun as you go rafting down the Urubamba river which provides level III and IV rafting (optional activity, not included in your package). After rafting we will come back to Santa Maria where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Wake up call is 6 am and after breakfast, we will start our hike. This day will be the longest but also very interesting. We will cross through widespread crops of oranges, coffee, cacao, coca, soursop, pineapple, etc. In addition to the numerous plantations and farms, there are many animals of the high jungle to spot and that you can interact with, such as (Spot-Throated Hummingbird (Leucippus taczanowskii, Blue and Grey Tanager (Thraupis episcopus), Rusty Flowerpiercer (Diglossa sittoides) Giant Hummingbird (Patagona gigas peruviana) ,etc). The trail starts out flat for the first two hours then there is a gradual climb until we reach the summit from where you will have an amazing view of the Quillabamba Valley. We will then descend this original Inca trail until we arrive to the town of Quellomayo where we will have our lunch break. After lunch we take up the trail and continue hiking for approximately two hours next to the river bank until we arrive at la Oroya, a basket on wires that we will use to cross the river and get into the Cocalmayo thermal baths where we’ll spend a couple of hours. After you have been rejuvenated in the baths, we will travel by car for 30 minutes to reach the town of Santa Teresa where we will have dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast you will have the option to go zip lining (optional activity, not included in your package). After zip lining, we will take a car and drive to the Hydroelectric town where we will take a break and have lunch. In the afternoon we’ll hit the trail and hike for approximately three hours next to the rail line where you’ll see beautiful landscapes as we walk to Aguas Calientes where we’ll spend the night.
Today’s day has an early start at 5 am. After breakfast we will take the 20 minute bus shuttle up to Machu Picchu where we will arrive at approximately 6 am. Once there you will have a two-hour guided tour of the site where you will see remarkable places such as El Torreon semicircle, El Tempo de las tres ventanas, El Intihuatana, El Templo del Condor, La Sala de los morteros and El Bano des Inca. After the tour you’ll have free time to explore the site on your own. After our site visit we’ll take the bus shuttle back down to the town of Aguas Calientes. You’ll have time for lunch if you wish (not included in the package) and in the afternoon we will board the train that will take us to Ollantaytambo where we will take a bus to return to Cusco.
