The Machu Picchu full day tour has spectacular scenery, heavenly views above the clouds and unique cultural attractions. There is something around every corner that will literally take you by surprise.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. and head to the town of Pisac in the south of the valley, situated on the Vilcanota River with picturesque terraced fields on the mountain. Here we will visit this archeological site best known for its Incan ruins where many traditional rituals were conducted to honour Pachamama, a goddess revered by the Incas. It is also famous for its fairs where you can buy beautiful handicrafts. We will then travel approximately one-hour and arrive at Urubamba where we will have a buffet lunch with Peruvian dishes from the local area. Following lunch, we will travel to the historic town of Ollantaytambo, pronounced Oh-yan-tay-tam-bo, with its cobblestoned streets where descendants of the Incas still live in the homes of their ancestors. This site is known for the Ollantaytambo ruins, a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside where many battles were fought because of its strategic location in the mountains and near the jungle. Finally, we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train which leaves at 4:30 p.m. and arrives in Aguas Calientes at approximately 6:00 p.m where we will spend the night at a hotel.
Today we will get up early and have breakfast at the hotel. Following breakfast, we will take the bus shuttle up a switchback road to the citadel of Machu Picchu . Once on site, your guide will take you for a two-hour tour of the site where you will discover the many wonders of Machu Picchu such as the main plaza, the circular tower, the sacred solar clock, the royal quarters, the temple of the three windows and the Royal Inca cemeteries. After the tour you will have time to take pictures and further explore this sacred sanctuary on your own. So, get your camera ready and enjoy your visit of one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World! You do have the option to summit Huayna Picchu which takes approximately two-hours round trip. (This hike is unguided and not included in your package). Following your visit of the site we will descent back to Aguas Calientes where we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cusco and your hotel.
